Camel Rides In Cabo

In 2021, more than 2.8 million visitors were drawn to Cabo by its beautiful beaches, exciting nightlife, and an average of 350 days of sunshine. Did you know that Cabo is also a dream destination for visitors who need a little adventure? It’s true. This resort town offers exciting experiences in the air, on the land, or in the sea. Cabo has something to offer everyone, including the genuinely unexpected — Cabo camel rides on the beach.

Imagine riding a camel across the desert-like sands of a Cabo beach while watching for whales in the distance. Although this might sound like a strange dream that combines the Sonoran and Sahara deserts into one epic fantasy, it’s actually a real adventure you can embark upon in Cabo.

Excursion Details

On a Pure Cabo safari, you’ll ride a camel through the desert and beside the Pacific Ocean under the watchful eye of a knowledgeable, bilingual guide. Your tour will also include a traditional Mexican lunch and — for the adults — a light tequila-tasting session.

Cabo Camel Tour

While camels may seem like an odd addition to the Cabo landscape, they fit in quite nicely. For one thing, Cabo is located on the edge of the Sonoran Desert. And the one-humped dromedaries used for your camel safari are native to the Sahara Desert. And both of these deserts are located on the same latitude, which means they experience very similar weather conditions.

On a side note, Cabo’s dromedaries did not come directly from the Sahara Desert to Mexico. Instead, they are descendants of a U.S. Army experimental unit called the Camel Corps. When the Army gave up on this idea, they set free or sold off their camels.

Before booking your camel safari, there are a few things you need to know. The minimum age to participate is five years, and riders must weigh no more than 265 pounds. In addition, you shouldn’t book this tour if you have back or neck problems or are pregnant. The total time needed for this tour, which includes round-trip transportation to and from the Dolphin Center in Cabo San Lucas, is approximately four hours.

Alternative Adventures

If camel riding isn’t your thing or if you’re searching for additional adventures, consider the following activities that are also available in Cabo:

Glider Tours

A glider tour is a unique way to get a bird’s eye view of gorgeous Cabo Bay, the Sea of Cortez, and Cabo’s famous arch. And because very little separates you from the sky, it’s also an exhilarating experience that will give you a true sense of freedom.

Your adventure will be aboard a motor-powered hang glider piloted by an experienced Professional Certified glider flyer, who can tailor the thrill level to your preferences. Want a chill and relaxing ride? No problem. Prefer a little adrenaline rush? Your pilot will be happy to throw in a few safe tricks.

The minimum age for this tour is five years, and the combined weight that the glider can hold is 250 pounds.

Hiking Tours

Cabo may be best known for its stunning beaches, but its deserts are also equally beautiful and worthy of exploration. And one of the best ways to do so is by foot on a Pure Cabo guided hike

During this tour, you’ll be led by a knowledgeable, bilingual guide to a lovely waterfall that is set amid a desert oasis. You’ll want to bring a bathing suit because you’ll get a chance to swim in the natural pool at the bottom of the waterfall.

Cabo Hiking Natural Water Pool

This tour includes round-trip transportation from your hotel, a light lunch, and snacks. You’ll need approximately seven hours total for this tour. Please note that this is a moderate-level hike with some boulder climbing and minor elevation gain, so participants should be in reasonably good shape.

Surfing Lessons

Have you always wanted to learn how to ride the waves? Then set aside some time while in Cabo to learn how to surf. This area has a reputation for its excellent waves. Long before the tourists discovered Cabo, adventurous surfers were drawn to its beaches to test their skills.

Pure Cabo surfing lessons are taught by a professional CPR-and First-Aid-certified instructor on one of two beaches near Cabo. If you’re heading to Cabo during the winter, you’ll learn how to surf at Cerritos Beach, which offers some of the best and most consistent breaks on the Pacific side.

If you are in Cabo during the summer, your surfing lessons will be held on Costa Azul Beach, known for its very reliable surf. All our surfing trips include round-trip transportation to and from your hotel.
